Arresting system proves vital to stopping jets in emergencies
A U.S. Air Force F-16CJ Fighting Falcon taxies from its parking spot, March 21, 2014, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. During takeoff and landing, fighter pilots rely on an Aircraft Arresting System which is designed to stop aircraft during emergency situations like break failure. Airmen assigned to the 20th Civil Engineer Squadron recently worked with a 55th Fighter Squadron pilot to test the AAS for accuracy and proper function. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
