Lt. Shaw: 100 years later
Royal Canadian Air Force 1st Lt. Ervin David Shaw, 48th Squadron Bristol F2B Brisfit pilot, is the namesake of Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., located approximately 11 miles from his hometown of Sumter, S.C. The base was originally named Shaw Field on Aug. 7, 1941, later renamed Shaw AFB. (Courtesy photo)
