Hot-pits: innovation at its finest
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Ryan Cassidy, 20th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (AMXS) tactical aircraft maintainer, sets up the refueling pump for his fellow Airmen at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., June 26, 2018. The 20th AMXS started a hot-pits assembly line as a new way to more efficiently refuel the F-16CM Fighting Falcons. Hot-pits is a process that places refueling trucks onto the flight line and creates a gas station for pilots to pull into and refuel their jets without having to turn off their engines.
