On track to history; honoring our Shaw AFB locomotive
A U.S. Air Force Locomotive formerly assigned to Shaw AFB prepares for its final ride at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Oct. 6, 2023. In 1941 the base was primarily used to train World War II pilots and was built around the track, its mission later evolved to align with Tactical Air Command and the railroad became the backbone for transporting goods and equipment contributing to mission readiness.
