The main facility will be approximately 320,000 sq. ft. and will support 1,500 personnel from the major staff groups. The HHC facility will be approximately 25,000 sq. ft. and will support approximately 50 personnel from the staffing groups. The TEMF will be approximately 15,000 sq. ft. and will support approximately 15 personnel for administration and equipment maintenance. The structure will include repair bays, administrative offices and a secure storage area. The energy-efficient buildings will be designed to meet silver-level requirements of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. The estimated cost of the new facility is $92 million. Like the Air Force's Central Command, 3rd Army focuses on U.S. operations in the Middle East. The new headquarters is expected to be operational by September 2011. Soldiers and their families will begin arriving at Shaw next summer. NOTE: Media are invited.
