SHAWFEST 2008 STILL ON SCHEDULE

Shaw's community appreciation day, ShawFest 2008 "Thunder Over the Midlands," is scheduled to go on as planned Saturday.
However, with Hanna's projected path, base officials are keeping a close eye on the storm ready to make necessary changes as needed. Any changes to the airshow schedule will be posted to the Shaw Web site, www.shaw.af.mil
, and sent to news agencies via press release as soon as they are made.
"We will continue to stay the course and prepare for the show on Saturday. If we receive definitive information suggesting that our personnel and guests are at risk, we will not hesitate to cancel because safety is paramount," said Col. James Post, 20th Fighter Wing commander. "Obviously, we'll continue to monitor the storm and make the appropriate decisions."
ShawFest 2008 is free and open to the public with free parking. The show begins Saturday at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Gates open at 7:30 a.m.
A wide variety of aircraft are scheduled to take to the sky in several aerial demonstrations, including the F-22 Raptor, P-51 Mustang and Shaw's own F-16 Fighting Falcon. Visitors will also see a wide variety of vintage and modern aircraft on the ground like the C-45, A-10 Thunderbolt, HC-130, MH-53, F/A-18 and the V-22 Osprey.
