SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- An Airman assigned to the 20th Security Forces Squadron shot and injured an individual attempting to illegally gain access to Shaw Air Force base at approximately 1:30 p.m. Dec. 23.
The injured individual was transferred to a nearby medical facility to receive treatment.
"Our security forces personnel are trained to respond to a variety of situations to ensure the safety of our personnel and assets," said Col. Kristoffer Smith, 20th Fighter Wing commander.
