SUMTER HONORS MILITARY COMMUNITY

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- The third annual military appreciation picnic is scheduled to be held here in Hangar 1200 Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free picnic is presented by the military affairs committee of the Sumter Chamber of Commerce and is open to all Team Shaw members in uniform.

Organizers anticipate feeding 1,800 or so of Shaw's military men and women. Music, displays by local businesses and agencies, burgers, dogs and Southern side dishes and beverages have been donated as a way to say "thank you" to Shaw's military members for their endless contributions to the community.

Base and community leaders are scheduled to serve food at the event.
