Individuals with physical or mental limitations who are not able to attend ShawFest 2008 "Thunder Over the Midlands" Sept. 6 are invited for Shaw's Special Needs Day Sept. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Special Needs Day is set aside for individuals and groups with restrictive physical or mental impairments that would make it difficult to attend the event Sept. 6.

A wide variety of aircraft are scheduled to take to the sky in several aerial demonstration practices. Additionally, a wide variety of vintage and modern aircraft will be available for viewing on the ground, such as the C-45, A-10 Thunderbolt, HC-130, MH-53, F/A-18 and the V-22 Osprey.

"This is a unique opportunity to see, touch and feel the excitement that's not only in the air, but on the ground. Sept. 5th is specifically dedicated to these special individuals and we look forward to hosting them," said Lt. Col. Jay Wilkerson, ShawFest Director.

Those interested in attending Special Needs Day should contact the 20th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office at Shaw no later than Aug. 28.

NOTE: Media is invited to Special Needs Day. For more information on the event please call the 20th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office at (803) 895-2019.
