Shaw personnel and aircraft prepare for deployment Published Jan. 11, 2008 By 010108 SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Nearly 300 Airmen and about 20 F-16 aircraft are slated to deploy from Shaw AFB Saturday. This number brings the total personnel deployed thus far in 2008 to approximately 400. The deployment is a part of an Air and Space Expeditionary Force (AEF) rotation into the Pacific Command theater and signifies the 20th Fighter Wing's continued readiness and commitment to maintaining peace and stability anyplace, anytime. Media will have the opportunity to cover the departure and interview deploying Airmen and families at Shaw's Chandler Deployment Center. NOTE: Interested media representatives should contact 2d Lt Caldwell at 895-2019 by 4:00 p.m. Friday. Planned arrival time for media is 8:00 a.m. Saturday; however, the time is subject to change. A photo ID is required for all personnel entering the base. In addition, vehicle operators must present a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration.
