20 FW SCEWR Readiness Exercise Published Dec. 10, 2023 20th Fighter Wing SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C -- Residents along the coast of South Carolina may notice increased military aircraft noise from December 11-15, 2023, as the 20th Fighter Wing assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., will conduct multiple training operations utilizing the South Carolina Electronic Warfare Range (SCEWR). Approximately 12 U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 55th Fighter Squadron, 77th Fighter Squadron, and the 79th Fighter Squadron, will participate in multiple training operations between the hours of 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. resulting in an increase of noise and military activity along the coast between Myrtle Beach & the Charleston area. SCEWR training brings together the flying community and helps shape the ever-changing landscape of the electronic and digital environment to produce combat-ready pilots, ready to tackle Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) missions.
