Shaw AFB to host AICUZ Open House

Shaw AFB invites the public to participate in an Air Installation Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) open house, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on July 23, 2024, at the Sumter County Administration Building Lobby (13 E. Canal Street, Sumter, SC 29150). The Department of Defense established the AICUZ program to promote proactive, collaborative planning for compatible development to sustain mission and community goals. The AICUZ program assesses land uses within Accident Potential Zones (APZs), Noise Contours, Hazards to Aircraft Flight Zone (HAFZ), and Imaginary Surfaces to ensure existing and future land use compatibility surrounding the base and Sumter County. Program updates occur every 5-10 years.
