4/25/2012 - Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.-- -- This week's Shaw Spotlight is Senior Airman Tanya Sipos, 20th Force Support Squadron commander support staff, from Berea, Ohio.
"Senior Airman Sipos is a constant shining star in our organization as well as throughout the Shaw community," said Senior Master Sgt. David Drysdale, 20th Force Support Squadron superintendent. "She's involved in various agencies across the base and is always the first one to volunteer to make things happen. She performs well above her pay grade and has the maturity of a seasoned NCO. We appreciate all she does for the squadron."
Sipos is working towards her bachelor's degree in early childhood education, and wouldn't mind being a teacher one day, she said.
She has been stationed here since October 2008. When Sipos found out she was going to be stationed at the 20th Fighter Wing, her dad told her he and her grandfather were also stationed in the 20th FW.
Family: Father, Chief Master Sgt. Terrence Alexander, Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Agency, mother, Ginger Sipos, stepfather, Master Sgt. (Ret.) Robert Weston, and brother, Senior Airman Terrence Alexander II, 30th Information Squadron
Music: "I've grown up learning to appreciate all kinds of music, from Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison to Bob Marley and Sublime. It's not a specific type of music, but the mood I'm in."
Movies: "I would rather watch a comedy over anything but action comes in a close second. It's hard to pinpoint my favorite movie, but I'm a sucker for a good western. John Wayne has always been my childhood superhero."
Hobbies: Coaching, playing soccer, drawing and reading a good book
Sports Team: Cleveland Browns and Pittsburg Steelers for football, Pittsburg Penguins for hockey, and the USA Women's Soccer team.
Guilty Pleasure: "Eating Sour Patch Kids till my mouth is sore from all the sourness."
Goal: "Become a Military Training Instructor and serve in the United States Air Force for as long as they'll have me."
Biggest accomplishment: "Still working on it, can't really pin point my biggest yet. Life itself is an accomplishment, a progress in the making."
Heroes: "My dad, for all he's done and all he will do. Thank you ole' man, you raised us just fine."
Favorite Food: "Chipotle. Chipotle. Chipotle. I would eat it every day if I could, ask anyone."
If you were stuck on a desert island what 3 things would you have? "Soccer ball, a never ending amount of Chipotle, and my dog Leonidas."
