6/11/2012 - SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- In the Shaw Spotlight this week is Staff Sgt. Christy Hardy, 20th Communications Squadron, NCOIC of wing information assurance, from Douglas, Ga.

"Always strive to do your best no matter what," said Hardy. "It gives me motivation to not give up."

Hardy has been in the United States Air Force for 11 years and stationed at Shaw six years.

"In every squadron there is always that very short list of names that stand out to everyone from the youngest airman to the commander," said Anthony Sulton, 20th Communications Squadron wing information assurance chief. "She has consistently impressed me with her foresight and initiative to carry out any task. Hardy has exceeded in accomplishing jobs on a master sergeant level, and providing outstanding leadership and mentorship to the people around her."

"An NCO of her caliber has greatly benefited this unit, and I'm proud to have served with her during my time as a military member (and) as a civilian," Sulton added.

Family: "My husband, Staff Sgt. Chris Hardy, 20th Communications Squadron, NCOIC of airfield systems, and my daughters Megan and Madelyn."

Music: Anything with a good beat

Guilty Pleasure: Starbucks and watching True Blood

Goal: To make technical sergeant

Biggest accomplishment:
My family

Heroes: My mom, because she's been through so much in her life and she doesn't give up.

Favorite Food: "Everything. I'm not picky, and I love to eat."

If you were stuck on a desert island what three things would you have? A boat, a lighter, and lots of sunscreen
