SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- U.S. Air Force Col. Bradley D. Altman relinquished command of the 20th Maintenance Group to Col. Warren S. Smith III during a ceremony at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, July 10, 2026. Smith took command of the group of five squadron responsible for maintaining the 20th Fighter Wing's fleet of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft and keeping them ready to fly and project combat airpower. The change of command ceremony is a military tradition where one commanding officer publicly transfers responsibility and authority to another with the passing of a guidon.
