Several U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons taxi down the Shaw runway after being prepped and launched during an Operational Readiness Exercise, Jan. 31, 2012, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. The ORE evaluated the 20th Fighter Wing's ability to meet wartime and contingency tasks. 2/1/2012 - SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- F-16 Fighting Falcon pilots with the 77th Fighter Squadron executed an elephant walk during an Operational Readiness Exercise Jan. 31 here.
The elephant walk is when aircraft taxi down the runway in large numbers representing the ability to generate a large number of aircraft needing to take off rapidly for military response.
The 20th Fighter Wing successfully generated 18 aircraft during the ORE.
